Nephew's kid evidently is not a smart person. He bagged all the leaves from my yard over Christmas break. He just raked and bagged them. If he would have mowed them it would have chopped them up and used a LOT less bags and taken less time. He filled 85 trash bags. When I did it myself I never got over 30 bags of mowed up leaves.

You just can't teach kid's that won't listen. Then they wonder why you don't think they are very smart.

When I was his age and mowed yards, always edged first. Then my first thing with the mower was to go around the yard and "sweep" the timings from the edger. Never used a leaf blower. Didn't need it.

One rich guy even stayed home so he could watch me do his yard and see how I edged and trimmed his yard without filling his in-ground pool filter with grass trimmings.

Even though I've told them, the nephews kids still mow, then edge, then blow the edger trimmings all over the place. And it even took me less time because I did not have to go around with a leaf blower.

My wife's Porsche Macan has a full size spare, but it is not exactly a "sports car" just a sporty SUV.

My 911 (a GT car not a true sports car) of course has the collapsible spare. I have contemplated removing it but I leave it in place to help with weight distribution and for additional front end crash protection. To me a true sports car is like the Cobra, nothing that does not make the car go faster or stop faster is available. My 914 was a pure sports car, no AC.

If I have a flat in a rear tire I am supposed to jack the car up, put the front tire on the rear, and the spare on the front. Then I have a 255-17-40 dirty tire to put somewhere.

I do carry an air pump, and a tire plug kit and fix a flat. So far in all my travels I have been lucky and had no flats. For your Cobra I would for sure look at putting the spare on the wall as decoration, getting a set of tire plugs and fix a flat. I ended up with a tire plug kit for motorcycles that uses a cone shaped plug and was rated very high in the tests back when I got it. I may replace it, just because it is at least 8 years old. The tire pump I do test on occasion. The Fix a flat is at least 15 years old and I may replace it as well. Of course the cell phone and tow truck are always an option.

Oh, I also carry a set of disposable tyvek painters overalls and some rubber gloves.

One of those colapsable spares and a pump came in the 928. It had a plastic mat, gloves, and a bag to put the flat tire in. Used it once. Can put colapsable spare back in the hole, but it leaks back enough air that it is nearly impossible to get out again after a couple of days. Even tried using Glens's vacuum pump on the spare, and it still leaked back enough the seal it in the spare tire hole.

Guess it is either the age of the spare, or that it is a single use item. Like the plastic mat, baggie gloves, and tire bag.

I have heard folks suck it down with a vacuum pump, then use a strap to keep it compressed into size for a while. I have never aired my spare up.

Will have to try that, but don't expect much. Think the hole was designed for smaller tires and the later model was pushing the spare size limits.

Just sell the 928, and get it gone. You will not be driving it again, and it just costs you money every day it sits in the garage. Cash it out and be done with it. Remember the good times and watch your bank balance grow. Hopefully you have receipts for the engine rebuild and all the other expenses of the car. The more receipts you have the more the capital gains taxes are reduced.

We had a nice rainy and warm Saturday. Sunday was cold and blustery. Back to 50s today and most of the week. It will be different not having super cold New Years Eve this year. Not that is much matters to me. I will be in my nice warm bed but 10:30 on NYE as usual. I guess it has been 20 years since I stay up until midnight. That was just to see the world blow up on Y2K when all the computers were going to fail. Not one darn thing happened, as I suspected so went to sleep.

If I were not lazy I would Google what few things did have problems on Y2K. There had to be something, somewhere.

The only problem with that is the 928GTS values are going up instead of down.

Are they going up faster than the money you spend to keep the car? Right now it is sitting with the gasoline going bad by the day. The tires become trash after just 5 years. Oil seals will start to leak and need to be replaced. Cash it out, put the money in your retirement funds, and let it draw investment growth.

Add up the insurance, and cost of a set of tires, fuel system flush, possibly new fuel pumps, Hopefully no mice have found it as yet. Spiders have for sure.

Cars don't age well just sitting.

Drove it a month ago just to warm it up. If I'm careful, I can drive the stick. Just not in anger, as they say.
Last couple of months excellent condition has gone from just under 80K to 89K.

Whew, I just scared myself.

What used to be called the BIOS, (Basic Input Output System) had been replaced with the UEFI now. That is the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface. Just rolls off the tongue doesn't it?

Anyway since my motherboard is new, it had the factory installed BIOS, um er, UEFI so I wanted to update it to the new and improved version on the manufacturers site. It is supposed to make it faster and more stable, always good things. The new UEFI is from 12/13/2019 so fairly new.

So I download it, install it and expected it to reboot once. It rebooted 5 times, and kept doing different things. I really started sweating when it came up with a warning to reset the drives to RAID or data might be lost. I checked and it was still set to RAID, and it indeed had the new driver versions in the UEFI

One more reboot, and it restarted itself one more time as a bonus I guess and finally came back to Windows. Phew. I sure did not want a 70 pound brick instead of my computer. Phew again.

At least our work is getting done. We have a few units to get to Win 10 Enterprise for next month. I hate Win 10 in an enterprise setting.

Glen, I usually only update the BIOS/UEFI when new and nothing important has yet been installed. Otherwise I leave it alone. Been burned too often over the last 30 years doing updates. It is much better these days than way back, I will admit.

Brent, yea updating firmware and BIOS or the UEFI is always scary. This update rebooted the system over and over to update firmware on some of the chips sets, the LED lights that I had to turn back off, and other things. The main reason I did it was it mentioned new version of the Intel RAID drivers.

Now I am still looking for a full glossary on some of the endless terms the manual mentions. I am not sure if the PCH DMI ASPM should be set to enabled or disabled, and the setting for the DMI Link ASPM Control are a mystery as well as a lot of the other settings. The manual just glosses over the terms and I have yet to figure out just what my PCH DMI ASPM even does. I have total control over it, I just want to know what it is first.

If I google each term I find: Set DMI Link ASPM Control to Enabled, to allow DMI connection to the PCH chipset to enter low power state to reduce power consumption.

Pete, I guess that weather is just job security for you now. More snow and ice mean more work for you.

I saw one single snowflake a few days before Thanksgiving. That is my quota, I have had enough snow and ice for the winter and for the next 25 years.

I don't mind snow. Sleet, freezing rain and all that I very much do NOT like. If we get 6 or 8 inches of snow I can have the drive cleared in an hour or hour and a half and it is good exercise walking with the snow blower. I hate using salt on the ice covered sidewalk, steps and driveway.
