Brent, you like right next to the arctic circle, you best not mind that crap.

Well, OK you are a few miles south of the arctic circle, but that dang Canadian air is just down the street from you.

Learning Microsoft Intune. MS started it for Mobile Device Manangement, IOS and Android. But now it is being billed as the On-line replacement for Active Directory. Looks like there are 152 settings in Win10 that can be managed.

Told I am to be the Intune manager and was told we are moving Active Directory to Intune so we can get rid of our local AD servers.

One thing for sure, Microsoft Intune is a better written program than Apple iTunes.

Look at it this way, they want you look at things, if you are the Intune manager, you get an important job and not a pink slip, hearty handshake and "good luck" with finding a new job.

Is there anything that isn't better written than iTunes? Other than maybe SAP.

Not likely. Way back in the early 1980s I wrote a program in Commodore basic for my Commodore 64 to tell jokes, and to type in new ones. It worked, but was pretty crude and clunky. It was better than iTunes because even my 8 year old nephews could use it with no issues, and it displayed the jokes in logical categories. It did not have any graphics, sounds, video, but anyone could figure out how to read the category of joke or add another. It all ran from one single sided 5.25 inch floppy. Not real fast, but it worked.

I will pile on and add one more Happy New Year. It still boggles my mind, 2020. Wow.

From a geezer enthralled with science fiction all my life, it just sounds so far in the future. I still remember reading the book 1984 only because I found that book on the library shelves, when I was in grade school and 1984 was 15 years in the far future. I did not realize how prophetic it was.

Burp!

We "had" to make our pilgrimage for New Year's Day black eyed peas. The old southern superstition is to have black eyed peas on news years day for good luck. There is no less superstitious person on the planet than me, but I like em anyway, and it sure can't hurt to eats some just cause.

The Cracker Barrel locally has a free sample size cup of them for patrons. Decent food, but they were really crowded.

I hope everyone survived the NYE parties and the first day of the new year. Hopefully my new power supply will arrive today and I can finish up the build on the big RAID. I am ready to get that off of my side desk and get my office back to a normal setup.

I am going to meet a old buddy from the early days of the local Porsche club. He has a box with several of the big banners we had for War Bonnet Tech and the 1996 Oklahoma parade. It is not that I want them, but he is cleaning out his garage to repaint the floor, and he does not want them. We have a board meeting on the 8th so I will bring them to the meeting and leave them with the new president of the club.

My wife's work is that way, ours roll over. Which is good, I had 119 hours PTO still at the end of the year even after the three trips in '19.

Our nice place to work is a use or lose it place. So of course at the end of the year when they have things to get done and I have planned time off I tell them so sad you didn't look at the vacation calendar.

We get 5 weeks, use it or lose it. They just started the use it or lose it last year. I had $12,000 vacation on the books after 35 years.

Friend that worked at Apple during your 8th year you were forced to take a 1 month sabbatical continuous time off. If you did not take it by Thanksgiving you were not allowed in the building until Jan 1st the next year. They actually made your ID card stop unlocking doors and alerted security to usher you out. You could cash out any accrued vacation to use the $$ on you sabbatical. Friend start his sabbatical right after giving a talk while in Europe. So he got free air fare as well.

My horrible boss had me slaving away on Christmas day and New Year's day and I did not even get paid overtime.

Of course I got even, I mostly watched a bunch of Dr. Who on the BBC America channel as they had a marathon. I just recorded them all, and skipped the commercials.
