Sounds like a great vacation, Sid. Our son & daughter in law love Oahu, but their upcoming HI trip will be to the Big Island. We’re going to the Big Island in December. We’re really looking forward to it.

The cool thing about Hawaii is how different the islands are. The Big Island of course has the volcanoes, and Kauai has rivers and some of the prettiest parts of the planet. Maui is nice and different again. Oahu has the most history since it has the most population, and Pearl Harbor, but it is really overbuilt from population pressures. I remember the "good ol days" when there was just two hotels on Waikiki beach. As a kid one of our favorite places was "Secret falls" and dad would park the car in a small grass field, and we walked a trail into the woods, and had to step over trees, and it was like a Jungle from Tarzan movies. Then you get to a open area with a beautiful waterfall, and a swimming area at the bottom and just a few people. The last time we were there we went back, and it was like a ride at Disney. Park in the large paved lot, pay a big fee, and ride a tram back to the falls that looked like something from Disneyland.

I am glad you and the family had fun Sid, that is the most important part of any vacation, and your kids will have lifetime memories of the trip.

One of the places we used to go swimming was called the toilet bowl by the Haoles at least. It was neat in that it was a volcanic formation with a hole at the bottom of sharp volcanic rock lined area. It was easy to jump in just as the water reached a level moment. Then the tide would back out and the water level dropped many feet, then a wave would hit, and we would go flying up, then it would drain out again. It was a real challenge to time the water right to be stable for a few seconds, get to the side and climb out. Lots of people were hurt and several died no doubt over the years. Last I heard, it is now off limits and close to the public.

We had perfect weather for the trap meet. Sunny, breezy and not too hot. Got absolutely nothing done on the Cobra dash, I am getting to be a great slacker!

Love when the weather is like this. SmartHours price is only 5¢ per kWh. If this cool weather keeps up the electric bill is going to be under $70 for this month!

I should get one of those tools you plug into an outlet to check the wattage. I think 3 battery backups use more than just a computer on them.

The bulb for my favorite work light flashlight burned out several months ago. It is a Dewalt 12 volt DW904 flashlight that uses the same batteries as my older drill driver. I have the charger and batteries, so it has been a real workhorse. I use it more than any other light when working on cars.

It came with a spare bulb and I have been using that bulb, but I wanted a replacement. I have had the old bulb in my El Camino for all this time. Today I was in traffic, and saw the battery-light bulb place and went in. No joy, they did not have that bulb.

Screw it, Amazon to the rescue again. There are lots of cheap replacements made in China no doubt, but I looked at the reviews and saw what I expected. The OEM Dewalt bulbs made in Japan are superior in life and brightness. So the Dewalt brand bulbs are on the way.

Also I use the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 100 sun block. No one locally carries it. They have the SPF45. I don't want any tan at all, and want sun block SPF Aluminum Foil grade. The 100 does pretty dang good.

So light bulbs and sunscreen on the way.

Yer welcome Sid. I see the Amazon delivery vans in my area all the time. I was surprised to hear they went with the Mercedes Sprinter panel vans. I had heard many bad things about them. Maybe they have a good return policy on them.

We have extreme calendar slippage here. It is 61 degrees in Oklahoma in mid June. It got into the 40 you in the panhandle. And no rain for a few days. More is forecast for tomorrow, but not today at least.

The best part of Amazon is finding a source for items that are just not stocked in regular stores. Like those Krypton bulbs for the flashlight. The research I did found stories of people using the cheap hobby shop replacements that were not as bright, and only lasted a few months. The factory Dewalt bulbs are made in Japan, and have a better filament, cost more, but work a lot better. I will pay more for quality anytime.

As an old geezer I remember the days that Made in Japan meant cheap junk. It did not take the Japanese long at all to figure out quality was more important to them than the the customer sometimes. I suspect that will take generations or never happen in China, price is all important. If they have to add in some deadly chemicals to dog food to make it meet a specific test, no problem. Formaldehyde in household products is OK, it is cheaper to make! That will be a hard cultural shift for them.

Hey, I have a 27 GB point cloud LAS file that you can play with if you need more to do. No sure how I can get it to you without a physical drive getting shipped.

And it is really exciting open nothing wilderness so not much but a few scrub bushes and rocks and occasional gully.

We can get that at the local hardware store. Along with a good blackberry brandy and cranberry rhubarb wine to make sangria. They don't sell the coffee in big bags though, so Sid's place has them beat there. Lots of local roasters though. Verena Street has a couple good roasts.

Hola, y’all. It was foggy by the harbor where I exercise earlier this morning, with about a tenth of a mile visibility.

Then, it got sunny at my house. Now the fog is trying to work it’s way up the hill to reach me here. Maybe Mother Nature is trying to tell me something.

As long a you don't start seeing a mysterious blob in the sink you can stay safe from the fog at home!

Yep. Gotta stay alert!

I am trying to refit the new 240Z bumper to my 280Z. I need to get my clutch hydraulics filled and bled, refill my cooling system, change the oil, and flush the brakes, hopefully all this week.

Over the next few weeks, I hope I receive everything I need to put the 280Z back together. Dash, seats, door cards, shift knob, tires, and a vintage looking radio with current technology.

So in the end, you will have a "backdated" 280Z to look more like a 240Z that is all fresh and purdy. Did you do anything to the engine? Like a rebuild or refresh?

You’ve got the picture. The engine had good compression, so apart from my installing new fuel injectors and all new fuel lines, it’s stock. After I get it back on the street for a while, I’ll swap out the stock 4-speed tranny and 3.54:1 diff for the close-ratio 5-speed and 3.90:1 that I have sitting in my garage. That’ll help boost the acceleration some.
