COTA and Road America are on my race track wish list.
So far only been able to enjoy them on the Irace simulator. Me getting jammed behind an IMSA showroom stock car. ![]() https://youtu.be/aO9Cre4vbF8?t=1010 The 10 was based in New Jersey and raced as an IMSA GTO and SCCA Trans AM race car in 88' and 89'. So it is eligible to race in the historic GTP/GTO Reunion race group. My other race car the 5 was Andy Porterfield's last race car. https://sportscardigest.com/andy-porterfield-1931-2012/

![]() We are back from Weatherford, and the second shot is done. Right now just an hour and a half later there is no difference than the first shot, basically nothing, just a needle stick. Typical government run operation. Last time we had to fill out several pages of information, and they had us on the list as second shot vaccine recipients and we are in the system. This time we each had to fill out the same two page forms. They will need an arena to store the thousands of pages per day generated, and it is all in the computer already. The lady "checking us in" had a analog multi-page document with likely 8 point text in the order the appointment was booked, she had to find our names, and then check the name off and send us through. Computers are really good at alphabetizing by last name, and printing out a list using 12 point text to make it easier to read. That would require forethought and planning. Even easier, save the paper, use a computer, type in the last name find the record in milliseconds, select a check mark and it is all done with no paper. This is 2021 not 1921. No doubt, no one has done this before, and they are doing great with what they have.

I can say our reaction to the second shot was no different then the first one, almost none. No redness or swelling, just a slight soreness if I press on the injection site. No pain if I don't press on the spot.
We are in for a spell of cold weather. Dang Canadians sending the cold air south in February again. They never share in August, just the dead of winter. We are forecast to be below freezing for 6 or 7 days straight. That has not happened since 1985 so fairly unusual for us. They forecast some single digit temps later in the week. We got out the koi pond heater and have it in standby mode, in place and all it needs is to be plugged in. Actually it is a stock tank heater. If we go to a koi pond place and buy one it is $90 but at Tractor Supply we can get the exact same thing only it is a stock tank heater for $25 bucks. If just sounds funny to say we plugged in our stock tank heater since we don't have any stock or a stock tank. No doubt if we had enough property we would have horses and donkeys and llamas, and sheep and goats. My wife would love to play Elly May Clampet.

good news for you then. I have heard the same from others and a few that it put them in bed for a few days.
Yeah we are supposed to possibly see some snow later this week. The forecast runs from might not stick to 3".

We feel lucky to have received the vaccinations and had no side effects worth mention. And that we are fully capable of using the internet and devices to get through the on-line portal, and receive and respond to email. Further that we have the resources to make two 200 mile road trips to get the shots.
It has to be a challenge for someone that works minimum wage, and can't take 1/2 a day to go drive to get the shots, or use the state's portal to get and appointment in the first place.

Considering that this is the first time anyone has tried a mass vaccination during a pandemic. it is not going too bad. The logistics of getting tens of thousands of people to work at the injection site, and the new web pages and the logistics it could be far worse.
Oklahoma is doing above average in the vaccination rate compared to other states. It for sure could be done better, but to build it all from scratch they did OK.

Certainly. It is easy to be a Monday morning quarterback and tweak what is working to be better.
Of course often the "upgrade" just changes things for the sake of change and just make it worse.

Since we are health care we have been lucky enough to get them early.
BiL is in the hospital so I took my wife to the airport on Friday night after some blowing (50mph winds) and drifting and cold. We were down to 40mph in places since the wind was trying to blow us off the road. Others in their CUVs and SUV were blowing by us like the roads were great. Of the 12-14 cars we saw in the ditch and median 100% were an AWD CUV/SUV of some sort. Another 8-9 tractor trailers in the snow drifts too. We ate at a nice little place called Little Bohemia. We got there a little late but before closing and the owner was good enough to get us something to eat. Oddly, on the way home could not get Waze or google maps to navigate us home. Good thing it wasn't a hard trip to navigate.

One reason I have a real GPS is the GPS signal will work anywhere outside with an open sky. Cell phones have to have a cell signal to work. The winds might have shut down a one or two towers and you are without cell service.

We went through parts of SW Texas and New Mexico where we had no cell service for a long time. We did have the Garmin to make sure we didn't miss a turn somewhere.

I have been in heavily wooded areas and the trees will block GPS signal, but that is usually very brief. My new GPS uses my phone to signal to add to the GPS signal it receives to get better accuracy.
