Morning all. We have more rain and lots of it. I'd go fan it East but I don't want to go stand in it.

Dang we sure could use some of that rain.

We had a nice autocross yesterday. First of the season. It was 78 degrees on Saturday, and a high of 45 on Sunday for the autocross. I had the only car from from before the 2,000s.

I still figure that I should get 1/10 of a second for each year if we add the age of the car and age of the driver together, and it is a three digit number. So I get a 10.6 second time advantage and I have FTD by several seconds! And I don't even care about the guys on low tread wear tires and 500 +HP.

Not really. The FTD was a guy in a basically stock Cayman R with Michelin Pilot Sport Plus tires and great talent. His fastest time was a 33 second lap and my best was 39 seconds. I teased that if we could turn off his power steering, ABS and traction control and make his shifts last 1/2 a second or so like mine we would be even! He might need few hundred pounds added to his car and remove a 100 HP somehow as well.

New cars, especially like a new 718GT4 is so mush faster at anything my car can ever do. I honestly really don't care one wit how much slower I am. I had the only car there going up in value!

All the others are way down from their sale price. Maybe I can work that into my formula as well!

My wife would be thrilled if I sold my antique and bought some new Porsche 911 or Cayman to replace it. Ain't gonna happen. At the Hallett last week, in the parking lot, with lots of impressive cars around, I had several people admiring my old G body car. One guy even said of all the cars there, he would pick mine as the prettiest car there. I get compliments on it all the time.

We have cool weather back, and crappy weather for Thursday. Then back to some sunshine.

I have the El Camino all waxed and detailed inside and out. The paint looks amazing. It is much shinier that it was. Weird how the haze creeps in and changes it slowly. It is all better now.

Morning all. Once again the alarm system went nuts last night. It had lost is ability to use the cell towers to report an alarm. Did this just last month. They were not happy to hear that I was wondering what good they were and if I should have them replaced.

I know that feeling. Our alarm started beeping about the cell signal and the alarm company came out and replaced the module in the box in the closet. The issue was the old cell phone module used a technology that all the cell phone providers have dropped. Much like a old analog TV will not pick up anything at all now without a converter box for the antenna.

A month after they replaced the module in the box, we had the same issue. Come to find out, there is another cell phone board in the control panel that runs the alarm. So they had to come back, and replace that as well. Why they did not replace both on the first visit is a mystery to me.

We moved from land line based alarm to a cell tower system I think in 2020 or 21 so one would think the parts are current. What bugs me is that from 1998 till the replacement the only thing I had issues with was the back up battery. Now if this is going to happen once a month they are going to have to do some major explaining.

Yea, I had to explain to them in a not real friendly tone that is was totally unacceptable. The folks on the phone asked that I wait for the technician to determine the cause. And he said it was the idiotic management. He said he told them on his first visit he needed to replace both cell phone modules as a pair, and they would not authorize it as it was working as is. That only lasted a month, so he had to drive back out at their expense.

When the weather got stupid cold earlier this year, the plastic cover for the garage door sensor failed, and the little tabs that hold the cover in place broke off, and the cover holds the battery in place. A really stupid design. He replaced the sensor and it comes with a new battery. He said if all he did was replace the battery, that is not covered in the maintenance and I would have to pay for it. I had the new battery ready to go in, but it would not stay in place with the broken cover. He gave back my new battery, and put in an all new sensor. Yep, real logic at work.

Phew, another honey doo done. The cover for the Koi pond is removed, and back up in the attic. The pump filters are cleaned and the Koi pond is ready for spring.

There was a long article in the paper today about how the suburb I live in is getting a huge hunk of money to resurface the main road from OKC into Edmond, Broadway AKA Rt66 to 2nd St, where it turns east to the edge of town to I-35. They are already resurfacing Rt66 into Arcadia and on a few miles and adding lanes to go from 2 lane to 4 lane. That will take a few years do doubt. It will be a total fuster cluck for traffic.

welcome to progress. We have a major road improvement from one freeway to another. The new road passes just south of us. The local roads were closed for a month while they put in or moved utilities around for the new concrete columns.

What is always so annoying is the planning before the project is always pitiful. They put out cones, destroy the road, dig holes, and then sit and wait for something like the new storm drain pipes, or a utility line to be moved. So often in large projects, they get it all torn up, and then sit and wait on something for a month or more.

And bet money within a few months for the project completion, someone will be digging a hole in the new road and do a crappy job of patching so that it is s huge bump for the next 15 or 20 years.

I swear they have two brothers doing the work, and they then have to move to another project and start on that, and only come bake to the big project every other week for a few days.

oh and the alarm system went nuts again last night about 9:30pm. I plan to call them tonight when I get home and let them know I fixed it again with out them. Thats three times in less than a month. I am going to suggest they fix it before I move the service.
