i really need to either fix the AC on ingrid or remove it entirely. but dayum! its hot in the summer without the AC!
hey richard, any ideas on what might cause overboost on my 951? since i put the performance exhaust back on it, the boost will creep to about 16 lbs and there is a hard fuel cutoff. it happens at any RPM as long as the boost is approximately 16 lbs. A/F ratio stays good, car pulls and pulls, right up until it hits that cutoff. anyone feel free to field that question. i got some input on the 951 forum, but not much.

I heard those little QR-1 are fun. You might look at the new Blade micro quad, the nano QX, it has some new electronic stabilization thing that is supposed to make it easier for beginners. I am happy to fly my Blade mSR right now. When I can fly it fowards and backwards in all directions I will probably move up to something like the mCPx to learn about collective control. Thought about getting into the copter camera thing, but ones that are any good are super expensive, AND they basically fly pretty much autonomously using GPS. The parrot looked good, but nephew's kid got one and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Blade is coming out with some pretty cool stabilization stuff. I saw where they have a trainer, the apprentice that almost flies itself with the stabilization technology and has sensors to tell if it is inverted.
Nynor, what you are experiencing is overboost protection. Is your boost control stock? If all you changed was the exhaust I would suspect wategate or connections to it first. If it is not dumping exhaust pressure feeding the turbo the stock turbo will make about 16psi. It may be stuck or not opening fully, the line from the cyclic valve may not be connected well or leaking. There is not a lot of components actually controlling boost in stock configuration. The pressure comes off the banjo bolt on the crosspipe after the intercooler and goes to the cyclic valve. The cyclic valve sends the pressure that opens the wastegate. The wastegate controls the exhaust pressure feeding the turbo. If the cyclic valve is broken or stuck closed it will also cause overboost.

Only got to drive by it. It sure is a desolate place. I will have to do the entire parade and the DE so I can drive it. It will be fun. Just a year away!

D, get to a dang doctor NOW. I know it sucks, but a decent doc can tell you more about your foot than you can guess.
My cousin is in the health food industry. He is very healthy, eats a lot of natural food, never a prepared food. His back started hurting and he tried all the supplements and natural remedies out there. His wife finally forced him to see a real doctor. They found a tumor on his spine. It HAD to have medical science to save his life. He is fighting multiple myeloma. He had not been to a doctor in 35 years. Go to the damn doctor. Not some chiropractor or acupuncture quack.

from what you are saying, i need to check the pressure line from the banjo bolt to the cycling valve to the wastegate AND the cycling valve itself. if i don't find the problem, or that doesn't fix the issue, it might be the wastegate itself. Quote:

my coffee this morning was delicious. i put it all together, but angie pressed the plunger on the french press, so i give her the credit. time to go to the dog park. then the local gun shop. then i think i'll sit on my arse, foot elevated, and prep brass.

Hahaha. I iron every week. I hate doing stuff in the kitchen. I'll gladly pick up other chores to avoid the kitchen.

Just because you did from the turbo back on the exhaust doesn't mean you didn't farkle the waste gate plumbing. i personally would not run Autothority Chips OR their banjo bolt thing. That is asking for trouble. It is increasing the boost by limiting the air pressure available to the cyclic valve to control it. The 944 Turbo's I hear of blowing head gaskets are usually Autothority chips and banjo and it is from guess what, overboosting.
When I chipped my 944 Turbo S I did the Weltmeister chips because of the reputation of the autothority stuff. They came with a wastegate spring instead of a restricted banjo bolt. The only problem I had with overboost was after putting in a Lindsey Boost Enhancer. Also after the over boosting I ended up losing my head gasket a little later. Despite what they say, the LBE does basically the same thing that the restricted banjo bolt does. I work for a valve company and prototyped up a valve that did exactly what Lindsey claims their LBE does and guess what. There was no noticeable difference in power or spool up from stock. When I got my 89 951 it had a tweaked up turbo and the Autothority MAF and chips. The Autothority setup ran too lean when accelerating at partial throttle. The only time it wasn't too lean was AFTER the WOT switch kicked in. Ended up with bent wrist pins, and stretched crank girdle from the predetonation. It had o-ringed head gasket so the next weak link fail point was the crank and wrist pins. It was very very quick though. I wrote up the specs for an electronic boost controller that would have been really cool, but the Lindsey rebuild on my 89 cratered, I was so frustrated I sold it and got the 928. Oh, and I assumed you aready went to a doctor because of the uric acid test. You aren't playing doctor on yourself are you? Isn't that bad juju?
