Well Livi went and got married and probably got a life. He will be back in a while. Same with G. Stijn did post a short bit ago about the green tips.
Glen, Richard, it looks like the big hail went north of you all. We had mild thunderstorms and heavy rain. More thunderstorms today. i don't like when it changes from the 40s to the 70s in a day with thunderstorms in tow and the sky has an odd color to it. The rain was heavy enough to wake me up and I slept through a car accident once. Though like Rick a car door or footsteps in the hallway will wake me instantly.

I'm taking the kids(My 2 plus my 2 nieces)to an arcade and then Frankenmuth to shop. I figure we are going to be stuck indoors when the storms come this afternoon so they will be tired from all of the excitement of playing games and walking.

So, how weird is it that someone would have their 911 resprayed original color, but the painter removed the paint tag?
Does this warrant any devaluation? (asking as I'm gathering goodies on a buddies car I'll be posting 4-sell shortly, and upon inspection of the car earlier this week i noticed this. PO to CO had car painted, so CO never knew there was supposed to be a tag there)

The tag is easy to sand off when sanding the inside of the trunk, or if they replaced the trunk lid because it was dented too badly to make it worthwhile to fix. The sticker reproductions are available and easy to replace if it a concours car. If it is driver, don't worry about it.

In the 928 world when that kind of paint thing happens, they make new tags and put them on the car. Kinda like if they were doing a restoration.
One guy painted his car the same color as mine, not a factory color for his year, and had a tag made the same as mine and put it on the car. Said if it ever needed resprayed from and accident, there would be no question what color to paint. That reminds me, I need to get a couple of the stickers under the hood replaced. Someone (not me, probably the guy that wants to buy the car) polished all the text off them.

I thought that was only the stickers on the fenders.

Nope, you can stick them anywhere, but fenders and windows get you the most bang for the buck. Under hood is next, then the trunk. On the dash won't get you much unless they are funny or makes the passenger freak out, then they can net you a couple ponies.

The car isn't perfect excellent, but from what I can tell, a ridiculously clean and honest original. OTHER ISSUE...CO pushed in the trip weeks after buying the car and killed the odo at 111k...15 years ago... but swears (he's not a liar) there's nothing north of 118k on the car. I advised him to gather as much documentation possible to prove the mileage, receipts, logs, anything... Advice on dealing with this other than a reputable shop has know of it since it occurred and can vouch for it?

I am always leery of a car that has a broken odometer or other little things that just don't work. It always makes me think if they would just let that slide what else did they not maintain.
Just a personal thing.

yea, IMO, that is potentially a big thing.
he told me he tried to get through the frunk to see if something was wrong...on the backside of the dash LOL I showed him how to remove the gauges and he was in awe.

He told me the reason he didn't get it fixed bc Auto Assoc in CT quoted him $500 to fix or replace the speedo and he thought he could do it himself.
The guy spent some real $ on maintaining the car ... has a think folder of receipts from '00

Ignoring a problem for 15 years is just not a good sign.
I have owned my El Camino for almost 24 years and I have no intention of selling it. Right now everything works as well as original or better except the cruise control and a spring on the turn signal switch need to be replaced. It does not auto cancel for left turns. It is a pain to get to so I just get by with cancelling by hand. The cruise control has me stumped and I need to get a buddy professional mechanic to come help me figure it out. The 911 is 100%. Everything works as designed or in the case of the AC way better than OEM.

I hear ya...I've poured $15k of "paying attention" into my 911 over the 4 years I've owned it.
I think the owner is just lazy. Lazy like I complimented the very nice paint job, and rebutted with "I've only waxed it 3 times in 15 years...?" The weird thing though...the car presents nice. Like nice. It's good local show quality, minus the 7 rock chips. Paint and the way it runs and shifts is nicer than my car. The story is it kept requiring maintenance and the owner decided to buy a mustang vert and let it sit.

Alrighty! Back from the adventure. Let the storms begin!
BTW-you haven't lived until you've tried a "skunk spray" Jelly Belly. or the "barf" flavor(actually tastes like spaghetti which is ironic because that's what I'm making for supper). Yeah, I know. I have no life.

My 911 doesn't have power locks, A/C, or cruise. I took the smog stuff off shortly after I bought it. The w/s washer pump has never worked and I have never even tried to fix it.

Saucy--ever weigh the Targa?
Mine was ordered without those options as well as plain manual seats. (I have Corbeaus in it now.) Their the "superlightweight" versions. That means the cushions are pretty much worn out which makes them obviously lighter. ![]() If only the OO would have gotten the sunroof delete option it would better.
