Condolences.

Still miss my first dog, Penny. She was a golden and made it to 17 years. Passed from congestive heart failure...old age. She passed quietly lying next to me while I was watching TV. She was always 2 ft from me and would do anything I asked her to. Once she followed me up a metal wrung ladder to a storage area. I climbed down and she stood at the edge looking between me and the ladder. I held my arms out and said jump. She immediately jumped right into my arms. Actually surprised the heck out of me, but I caught her. The only weird quirk she had would have gotten her put down if she was ever a rescue dog. If you put food in her bowl it was HERS. She would growl, bare her teeth, and snap at anyone that even got close to her or the food bowl. But, if you asked her she would happily bring it to you and let you have it, weird. I used it to train her to bare her teeth and growl when I made a fist. Very handy having a dog that would bare her teeth and growl on a hand signal.

When Penny passed she left such a big hole in my life I only made it a month before I just had to get another golden.

Good Monday morning folks.

Just as I pulled in the parking lot at work my phone rang. It was my brother. He lives in Montgomery, Alabama. He never calls during work hours unless something unusual has happened.

He said yesterday he mowed the yard and of course was hot he went in the bathroom and was about to take a shower and the next thing he knew his wife was standing over him with bloody hands and yelling at him. The back of his head was really hurting and his neck was really sore. Apparently he had passed out and whacked his head on the side of the bathtub and his neck was bent forward so his chin was pressing against his chest. Fortunately his wife was home and she worked as a nurse for over 40 years. She was trying to stop the bleeding and call 911. He ended up with a 4 inch cut at the base of his skull.

They said they did a MRI and EKGs and lots of expensive tests and ruled out a stroke or heart attack. His blood sugar was normal so all they can figure was a heat issue. The good news is he has a hard head so no damage except a wound that will heal up. He does not even get to have a cool scar to show off since in will be covered with hair on the back of his head.

Yea, he said when he was first coming around he knew the back of his head and neck really hurt and his wife was looming over him poking at the area that hurt and her hands were covered in blood. Since he has been happily married almost 40 years he did not panic and knew she was trying to help after he started thinking straight. Those first few seconds were rather tense.

Rained on and off yesterday and overnight. I personally saved California from its drought. They should make me King.

Oh great, I wonder how they are going to handle this.

My name came up yet again for the random drug tests. It seems to every single time since I started working from home.

Anyway, I have been on an antibiotic cycle for the last two weeks. I had a sore pop up on the side of my left foot and the antibiotics are to make sure it doesn't go MRSA. The only problem is that the antibiotic gives me the runs. It also makes me very drowsy (a dangerous combination I might add.) Doc says to just take imodium and keep on the antibiotics. I have not peed for 2 weeks unless you count the consistency of what has been shooting out of my arse.

Long story short couldn't pee in a cup if I wanted to. If I drink more, I just poop more.

Wonder how they are going to handle this. Am supposed to go the lunch with my brother today, wonder what he will say as chairman of the board.

When I got home from the autocross yesterday I figured it was time to wax the Elky. I was afraid I might get prosecuted for Elky abuse since it had been a while since I waxed it. It has single stage white paint. It showed a little oxidation but not much.

It is all shiny again. It looked real good before with a casual glance. Only when you look real carefully could you see any issues. I love the way well waxed paint feels all smooth and slick. It is waxed up for the winter weather. It will get waxed again next spring.

So you are good for something after all!

Sorry Jim, it was too easy of a rim shot.

It just needs a few months of that and the lakes will fill up again.

Welcome to the corporate world.

Jacob's bomber is sitting in our room waiting for his birthday. I didn't think he would save $100 so fast so now I have to go buy a trainer so we can learn to fly R/C so he can fly his bomber. It is a B-17 with AS3X which is basically gyros to make it artificially stable. Looking at a Corsair with SAFE technology so the kids and I would have to work at it to crash it hard.

Get something simple like the Cessna with safe and as3x. Or the little delta wing. It's supposed to be easy for a trainer. I'd run a buddy box set yup to teach the kids. That way they get too crazy you can punch the safe mode, let it recover and fly it down.

I would go with the Apprentice before the delta, but the Corsair flies about as tame as the Apprentice. The new (higher end) Spektrum transmitters have a wireless buddy system.

Emily and I have both flown R/C and Jacob does well on the simulator so the learning curve shouldn't be too great for any of us. I still like flying full size better. Emily is a Young Eagle and got to fly a Glasair Sportsman and loved it. If you have kids interested in flying, Young Eagles is a great way to get started.

That SAFE and AS3X stuff is amazing. I learned RC the old fashioned way. Drink a beer, make a flight with an instructor, pop open another beer and repeat. On my 9th flight I soloed. On my 11th flight I hit a barbed wire fence. The club I joined made you build a trainer so you could repair it.

Did the same with my first heli. No stabilizing stuff. The new quadcopter drones will fly themselves. To make the drones more interesting guys are putting a camera on them and racing by viewing only what the camera sees.

My first flight was on a buddy box but he never had to step in. I did a lot of R/C car racing in my younger days so it was mostly watching speed and piloting full size helped with that. Should be exciting times.

My brother in law flew a lot and put one of his high performance models through a hangar roof on one of the R/C days at the local airport. Another put a scratch built P-51 into a corn field. This was back in your Day Richard with having to hand build stuff from balsa, paper and dope. He was trying to see how many spins he could do. He did 32. he should have stopped at 31.
