Just got off the phone with the Vice President in charge of IT.

Been upset and confused after my Brother, the Chairman of the Board told me Friday at lunch I was originally on the layoff list. He told how I needed to make some changes in how people perceived me to keep my job. Was confused because I had already heard about the Vice President over IT giving me kudos in their layoff discussion from a co-worker.

Turns out the HR department came up with the original layoff list and each department was responsible for making the final decisions. Said there we several in IT that HR had put on the list and there was only one in IT that was even considered.

Have already made arrangements to have Lunch with my Nephew, now the CEO to discuss the issue with him. I want to make sure I do or don't do whatever is necessary that I am not on any future lay off lists.

Kind of interesting that I asked the VP about me working from home. Mainly because I am the only employee that works from home. He told me he likes it. Say he values having someone he can call at any time that he can depend on getting what he needs taken care of.

Glen, it actually was uphill both ways. Mom and dad live a the top of a hill and the school is on another hill. Of course it is downhill both way s as well.

Sid, if it isn't one of those $50 oil changes, I would do it all the same time.

928 takes more oil than the Cayenne. Cayenne takes 8qt, 928 9qt. That and good oil filters aren't cheap either. Think change was around $100 total on the Cayenne. Don't remember exactly. Do remember they only charged like $20 for labor.

The tires on the El Camino are about worn out once again. I almost have the same problem buying 15 inch tires for it as I did with the 911. 235-60-15 tires.

There is a Pirelli P-600 with a tread wear of 180 that would be over a grand for 4 tires. There is a Cooper cheap tire that I have had before and they suck donkey balls in the rain even when new.

Right now I have BF Goodrich TA that are pretty good for the first half of the tread. As they get worn they get crappy in the rain. I have had several sets of them. They only last 10 to 12 thousand miles. There is no treadwear warranty from any tire dealer. I don't exactly drive the Elky hard. It can't spin the tires unless I just stand on it. That is real hard on the little 8 inch rear end, transmission and drive shaft. I just don't do it. The Elky of for hauling stuff, the 911 is for hauling ass.

I have paid under 300 bucks for 4 tires mounted and balanced in the past. Now a set of 4 is going to be just over $600. I only paid $800 for the 911 tires that are Michelin Pilot Sports.

We have Kuhmo tires on the truck but they aren't 60 series. Of all the tires we have had in 200k miles the two sets of Kuhmo have been the best good weather tires. You would have to go to a 215/65/15 to get close to the correct diameter. Hoosier make a nice sticky tire in your size.

Pep Boys lists Mickey Thompson Sport M/S for $520 in that size. Description says they are designed for older muscle cars.

From what I heard the Mickey Thompsons are for show cars, not daily drivers.

They do have raise white letters on em. Read some boards and they say the Mickey Thompsons are great dry but horrible wet.

So do the BFG tires. I always have them mount them letters on the inside.

glen, 15" tires pretty much suck to find. Think I'm buying new wheels for the Porsche so I can get better tired, found out we carry these, which I love!

Oops. There are different MT Sporstman tires. One is SR, the other ST, the ST is mud and snow treaded.

There is a tire shop I found called Performance Plus that has some brands I've never heard of HP400 and Maxxis.

The reason I put 18s on my 944 Turbo and 928 is tire choice. The tests for acceleration, cornering, and braking were the same for 17 vs 18 even though typically increasing the rim sizes decrease all of those because 18s were better tires that you can not get in 17.

Those wheels are a really popular wheel style now. Can even get a set in 22s for the Cayenne that look just like em. My 22s are a little different spoke pattern that make a bit more center.



I really liked the Carrera Lightweights I put the the black 944 turbo. The were about the lightest 18 I could find.



They are different than the Carrera IIIs I put on the 928. The Lightweights were a risk for getting bent on the heavier 928.



Since I put these on the 928 a LOT of other 928 guys have put them on theirs, copy cats.

Sid, the tire choice for 15s indeed suck. That is why I have 17s on the 911 now. My El Camino came with 14s which is even worse. I bought a set of wheels that were stock on S-10s that look just like the stock wheels only 15s. In the end it was a stupid decision. I should have gone with a set of Cragar wheels. For what the set of steel S-10 wheels cost to get cleaned up and painted I could of bought the Craigars.



I have seen more than a few G body cars with 17s or bigger wheels and I think they just look stupid. Since it is my car I will stick with the 15s until I can't get the very mediocre BFG Radial TAs anymore.

My brother has been the analog man and resists computers. His beloved flip phone gave up the ghost about a year ago. His wife and two adult boys did an intervention and made him get a smart phone. They set up everything for him and he had several lessons. I actually got to send him a text message for the first time ever just a few months ago. He sometimes sends a text that is so garbled it is hard to understand and then follows it up with "That is close to where I wanted to say"

Yesterday they set him up on Facebook and added some family friends to his facebook friends. Today he made one of his first posts. It was a sweet post about how lucky he is to be married to his sweet wife Elaine.

It was posted on a lady named Elaine that is NOT his wife. He managed to make the post on the wrong person's page.

Maybe someday he will try using a computer.

When I bought tires for my Porsche cars in the past I ALWAYs looked for the tires I could get the best autocross lap times will still being street tires, typically wear ratings over 100. They all did well in the wet despite being called dry tires.

One winter I had an issue with Potenza Pole Positions, it was dry, but so cold the tires drove like I was on ice. Ended up spinning on a right turn and bumping a curb. Had to replace a wheel bearing but nothing else was damaged.

Because my Porsches tires usually lasted a year I usually got tires late in the year so I would have as much tread depth as possible over the wet wintery season. One winter with was really icey and I needed tires so got some Mud and Snow for my 90 928 GT. They did great on the ice. They had a much higher treadwear rating than I usually bought but was really surprised. The rear tires didn't last nearly as long at the much stickier tires I usually bought.

Now due to not being able to heel and toe anymore this time I put on what I thought is the best All Season tires, the newer Michelin AS on the 928. They don't grip in the corners quite as good as I am used to, but otherwise do pretty good.

I look for an get all season tires for the Cayenne. Just don't really understand those guys putting on the stickies dry weather tires they can find on their Cayenne. Or the guys that track their Cayennes either. Thought it was supposed to be the vehicle you pulled the trailer with your track car to the track with. Hear a few doing to off-road tire thing, but not many.

I tried and tried to get my Mom to use the computer. It would have been nice for her to type in some of her stories from growing up etc. Like when she was little she went to church camp in a covered wagon.

At Parade I have seen Cayenne Turbo's HAULING ass around the track in the same times as Boxsters and Caymans.

One of the absolute most important thing for any tire I buy is long road trip usage and raining highway use. The M&S rated tires I had on the 911 for the last few sets were only OK at the autocross but did fine in the rain.

With just one autocross on the new summer Michelin Pilot Sports I know they have a lot more dry road stick. I have not driven in the rain with them yet. I am sure it will rain on my Parade trip at some point.

That is similar to me, I really liked my flipphone because it could go in my pocket without worry of breaking it. I never sent a text until a year ago when my wife upgraded all of our phones (Samsung galaxy S5). I seem to be the only one at lunch or out on the town that doesn't have my phone glued to my hand or ear.

I have been using a computer for awhile now, but never downloaded anything, or set up any new software....just not interested.

I am on facebook, but only have about 50 friends (only people I personally know, and have talked with in person). I guess, I just don't need all the electronic stimulation that most people do.
