Just out of curiosity b-fan.....and for discussion purposes....why would that make the sammich better?

Are you talking about adding heat...so the cheese is melted and integrated into the other ingredients?

Is that the main benefit?

I love ALL sandos!

Warm? Toasted bread has texture. Love crunch with soft cheese. Opposing textures.

And warm technically makes flavor more amped up. Ever tasted a warm soda? It is overwhelmingly sweet. Just like warm melted ice cream.

But I would love that sandwich as is. I’d eat that one cold.

You live in the land of Cuban sandwiches. Go eat one and your question will be answered.

Shortly after eating my first Cuban sandwich, I purchased a sandwich press. I still have it to this day, and aside from Cuban sandwiches it makes a hell of a grilled cheese.

Use a cast iron on the dry side and put something heavy on top like a pyrex bowl.
No pretty sear marks but it should do the same.

Interesting approach, Shaun.....

What do you guys think about meat tenderizers?

Seems like a good way to help get spices and seasonings permeated into the meat.

$17.98 from Amazon for this model:

What about these kinds:

I have one of those blade tenderizers. Works great making chicken fried steak.

Winging some fresh gnocchi to pair with the wild turkey sauce I made yesterday.
Ate the sauce yesterday and first thought was the potato dumpling things. Version 2.0 pending.
