The towing capacity is silly low. Never gonna tow a car and trailer anyway.
We have yet to discuss the drive out to Parade. It may well be in the Macan. My goal is to drive all 48 states in "my" Porsche. My name is on the title so it is mine, I just have a co-owner. ![]() The sales figures are phenomenal for the Macan. They have been running at 100% capacity for a while now.

you bring it and I get to come I want to sit in it and see how it compares to my RDX. I'm torn between a Macan and a Cayman for the next ride.

My wife likes the Cayman but it is just a two seat car and no room to haul plants or antiques. She would be thrilled if I went to the dealership and ordered a new Cayman and sold my 911. That ain't gonna ever happen. I really like having a car go up in value and not drop. My wife's Infinity has been a good car but in depreciation alone it cost $225 per month every month. That is just the depreciation money that evaporated. My 911 has in theory almost doubled. Zero doubt it is worth more now than when I first got it. That is a good toy, it goes up in value and makes me grin when I drive it.

Glen, in 50 or 60 years that Cayman will be up in value as well. Of course no one will now how to drive it at that point.

Dang, it is windier than an 80's music video today!
![]() No trees down but the pool cover is garbage now. Now there is a broken down train blocking 3 of the 4 crossings in town. Oh yeah. Happy Hump Day!

They are just now starting to make new replacement DME computers for the 911. It is a solid state unit and just one board. As as you said by then all cars that people will drive will be for track use only. The street cars will be full auto.

Pretty sure by the time autonomous cars are the norm I will not be able to drive anyway.
I feel the new aides that are available like the automatic braking and lane change warnings are going to turn the average driver into a passenger anyway.

I took the Macan on a drive through the neighborhood to get the mirrors adjusted right and the seats and so on. I came to a stop at the stop sign (really) and I started cussing. The dang engine died! Then I remembered that is the mode it is in. It is supposed to stop the engine to save gas. I can turn that feature off if I want. Likely I will. Especially during the break in period for sure. I will drive it to the PCA board meeting tonight and show it to the board members.

Enjoy that Macan, Glen!
I was working on the sailboat today and saw something incredibly stupid. Our harbor has two marinas. There is a bridge between the marinas, separating them. Most powerboats can travel along the main channel of the harbor and pass under the bridge. Sailboats and very tall powerboats heading to the other marina need to take a second channel that bypasses the bridge. A sailboat was motoring down the main channel of our marina, in the direction of the other marina. The sailboat mast hit the bridge with loud bang, and the rigging on the front of his boat was destroyed. Luckily, the mast didn't come tumbling down. Still, there might be some damage to the mast as well. I'd hate to be the skipper of that sailboat, after pulling that stupid human trick. Hard to live that one down.

Jim, that is a stupid human trick for sure. I think that guy's smart brother was sitting behind me at the first cattle call for jury duty. I could clearly hear him ask the lady next to him if her cell phone had a calculator on it. She replied yes of course. He then asked her to subtract 1952 from 2017 to figure out how old he was. He was hopeful that he was 70 and exempt from jury duty. I had to stifle a laugh and if he asked me that I would have guffawed. He then went on to say the two calculators he had kept coming up with different answers and he was not sure what was right. I wanted to tell him to ask the judge that question and he would send him home as too stupid to serve.

Old boss of mine went to the Bahamas with his wife. They did a day of sailboat rental. The boat comes with a captain and cook, another guy and his wife. They were tooling along and the captain asked my boss if he wanted to drive. The boss did. Then the captain proceeded to lay down and go to sleep. After an hour he woke up and the sails were slack. Boss said the captain got really angry and kept saying, "You lost your wind mun, what you gonna do now?"

Good save Richard.
Well as expected driving the 2017 modern SUV vehicle is a LOT different than my mid 1980s cars. Who wouda thunk. It is very quiet and since we are in break-in period I can't push the fun pedal much. It is still pretty zippy. I got on the interstate for a whole mile and it is spooky how it shifts. Since I was easy on the throttle I just watched as the speed increased and the tach that is properly place front and center would just go up to 3,500 RMP and then silently drop like a stone 1,000 RPM. There was no noticeable shift just the tach dropped 1,000 RPM and it did that as the shift indicator counted up to 7. The steering was just like my 911. Super precise only power assisted so at slow speed it is still easy to steer. The leather seats have about a million positions from lumbar to the seat bottom extending out. They are also heated and cooled front and rear. The lane assist is something that deliberately tested by getting close to the center line. It has low a vibration buzz to warn you. The cameras front and rear come on at parking speeds. Oh yea, it smells good too. I guess we will keep it. ![]()

If we put the Macn in Sport mode it does not auto stop the engine. There is for sure a way to program the vehicle to not do the auto off for the engine.
Another feature is the HOLD function. When I stop on our uphill driveway and let off the gas and brakes the car just sits in place and does not roll backwards. I just use some scissors to trim it up some. My barber shapes it and does the major trimming when I get my haircut.

Mertnin.
Glen, glad to hear you are enjoying the Macn. When I got the new Boxster S took several road trips to get them break-in miles checked off. Wayne, When I used to trim my beard about every other month with a Norelco Turbo Vacuum Trimmer. The vacuum hair catcher keeps the trimmed bits from making a mess. Trimmed my hair myself. Bro and SIL gave me a Flowbee for Christmas one year. Speaking of trimming, today is foot doctor day. They always trim up my toe nails.
