Never seen that but it has to be better than the one I watched.

Epix has been killing it lately

'Downhill Racer" with Redford, Hackman, Coleman and a period 911

"The Bounty" with Gibson, Hopkins, Day-Lewis, Oliver, and Neesom

This movie, "Gallipolli", and "The Year of Living Dangerously" show what a great actor Mel is.

An early film for Liam Neeson, too. Small, but memorable role.

Linda Hunt as well in TYOLD, except hers was a bigger role.

If you get a chance the 'Marlon Brando' Mutiny on the Bounty is a great version. Maybe my fav. one.

Speaking of Mel....watched a few minutes this morning of "Braveheart". What a fantastic movie that was!

I'd actually forgotten she won an Oscar for her performance:

For those who like westerns....an oldie but goodie is "How the West was Won" with Spencer Tracy as narrator and an all star cast.

It's almost 4 hours long and divided into individual segments.

Argo, 2012 Ben Affleck drama movie. About a rescue of 6 Americans from Iran in 1981. Fact based movie, not a documentary. Pretty good but a bit drawn out. I did like it.

This is a really wonderful film woven around French illusionist-turned-movie maker Georges Méliès, who pioneered special effects in films back in the early 20th century.

On TCM right now...Ice Station Zebra!

Tobra 08-02-2020 05:15 PM

TCM is about the only thing I miss from cable

Game Night. Comedy. First 1/2 hour lasted forever then it got watchable. Better than Golden Girls reruns.

Steve Carlton 08-02-2020 07:09 PM

Game Night is great. That cop next door with the dog was awesome.

Baz 08-03-2020 03:52 PM

FYI: "Dunkirk" airs tonight on cable Paramount.

8pm ET - about 8 minutes from now. :)

Steve Carlton 08-03-2020 05:05 PM

I watched From Here to Eternity the other night- never seen it before. Really good, and quite a cast (that I recognized):

Montgomery Clift
Burt Lancaster
Deborah Kerr
Frank Sinatra
Donna Reed (I'm a big fan)
Ernest Borgnine (a bad guy in this)
Jack Warden
Claude Akins
George Reeves

Baz 08-03-2020 06:51 PM

^^^ BL and MC were great in that one.

Re: "Dunkirk"......Tom Hardy in that Spitfire...what an ending!

BTW....that Spitfire landing at the end was based on a true story. The Spitfire was later pulled from the sand and restored:

"A Bridge Too Far"
and "Tom Horn"

Secret in Their Eyes (2015) - Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts

Not your typical Julia Roberts movie. It only got 39% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Normally I'm not attracted to movies like this but my GF wanted to see it so I relented... Actually a good movie.
It's difficult to watch sometimes because of the content but it's a well crafted thriller overall. It's certainly a lot better than 39%!
