What is the fastest drop Engine time did you guys have?
What is the fastest drop Engine time did you guys have?
I understand if this would be 4 cylinder it takes less time or it will be more time for large dressed one, and Carbs vs MFI... but I just want to see the time for general reference. About an hour on my old MGB.

Don't be that impressed. The RSA is a track car, so there is not a whole hell of a lot to disconnect.

2 hours removing on a 77 sc (had a bit of problems with the drive axle nuts)
engine went back in in about an hour.   We did however have a 2-pole bridge, a pallet lift and worked in pair, each person for one side disconnecting and reconnecting. |

Takes me usually a little over an hour on old carbureted 911 street cars. About 45 minutes underneath, and 20 minutes up top. That's actual working time, not including finding tools, jack, oil pans, etc. which never seem to be where I left them. Getting all that stuff rounded up takes longer than the actual work!

With my mid rise lift and having drained the oil the night before and laying out the tools while it drained, about 2 hours to have it on the ground. Working by myself, 2nd time dropping it.

I've removed, fixed a clutch fork placement (separated transmission and engine) and reinstalled in around 4 hours by myself...
I was motivated to finish it before my wife woke and went to the garage in the morning...

they pop right out and in .. under a hour. once you know the sizes and tools needed

I usually average about 1:20 including jacking up the car and draining the oil. These drivetrains come out of the car quite easily.
In fact, I get to practice this Sunday morning on the 71 targa.

Did my first one in 4hrs.
That's from running/driving to motor and tranny out, solo, using floor jacks and jack stands (no lift).

I bet my guys, at my shop back when I was much younger, that I could get the engine out of a, I think, '71T, in 17 minutes. It took me 21 - had trouble with the upper starter bolt (trans remained in the car). Time started with the car on the hoist, toolbox in place, but no tools out of the box. Time stopped with the engine on the floor jack, and pulled out from under the rear of the car. Also included oil removal.

Racing a GT3RS in Grand Am at Watkins in 2001 we blew a cam seal next to the oil tank
in practice Engine out, fixed, back in in 22 minutes for qualifying on a sheet of plywood in a dirt parking lot It was Nascar weekend and Grand Am got the dirt lot
